What is an Afghanistan mobile top-up?

An Afghanistan mobile top-up (also called airtime recharge or “credit”) is prepaid balance sent online to a phone number in Afghanistan. Most Afghans use prepaid SIM cards, so family members living abroad commonly send top-up to help relatives stay in touch, call, and use mobile data. With WatanTopUp you choose the amount in Afghani (AFN), see the exact price in US dollars, and pay by card from any country.

To send one, you only need the recipient’s 9-digit mobile number after the +93 country code. The network — Roshan, AWCC, Etisalat, Atoma (MTN) or Salaam — is detected from the number. The top-up is delivered electronically to their prepaid balance, usually within seconds, and the recipient is notified by SMS. The recipient does not need internet access, a bank account or a smartphone to receive it — any prepaid Afghan SIM works.

How much does it cost to send top-up to Afghanistan?

The cost depends on how many Afghani (AFN) you send and on today’s exchange rate. WatanTopUp converts the amount for you and shows the exact price in US dollars before you pay. That price already includes the service fee — there is nothing extra at checkout — and the recipient always receives the full AFN amount you chose.

You can send any amount from 500 to 7,000 AFN. The table shows real prices calculated today with the same formula the checkout uses.

Afghanistan top-up prices on November 7, 2026
Recipient getsYou pay (USD)
500 AFN$8.83
1,000 AFN$17.65
2,000 AFN$35.30
5,000 AFN$88.26

Prices include the service fee and follow the current exchange rate. The form always shows today’s exact price before you pay.

Airtime or data: which should you send?

Airtime is flexible prepaid credit: the recipient can use it for calls, SMS or mobile internet at their operator’s normal rates. A data bundle is a fixed amount of internet (for example several GB) that is valid for a set number of days, which is usually better value for WhatsApp, video calls and social media. Enter the number, then switch the form to “Data plans” to see the bundles available for that network with their price.

Is it safe to send top-up online?

Yes. Card payments are processed by Stripe on an encrypted checkout, and WatanTopUp never sees or stores your full card number. Orders are checked for fraud, the number is validated before payment, and the credit goes only to the Afghan number you entered. If a top-up cannot be delivered, the payment is refunded to your card. Support answers by email in English, Dari and Pashto.

FAQ

Questions about sending top-up to Afghanistan

How do I send mobile top-up to Afghanistan?

Enter the Afghan mobile number (+93), choose how many Afghani (AFN) the recipient should get, and pay by card. WatanTopUp detects the network from the number, shows the exact price in US dollars before you pay, and sends the credit straight to the phone. The recipient does not need an app, an account or internet access.

Which Afghan mobile networks can I recharge?

You can recharge prepaid numbers on all five Afghan networks: Roshan, AWCC (Afghan Wireless), Etisalat, Atoma (formerly MTN) and Salaam (Afghan Telecom). The network is detected automatically from the first two digits of the number.

How long does an Afghanistan top-up take to arrive?

Airtime top-ups are sent automatically the moment your card payment is confirmed, and most arrive within seconds. If an operator is slow it can take a few minutes. If a top-up cannot be delivered, we refund the payment to your card.

How much can I send?

You can send any amount from 500 to 7,000 AFN per top-up. Pick a ready-made amount or type your own; the form converts it to US dollars instantly so you see the exact price before paying.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The US-dollar price shown in the form already includes our service fee, and it is the amount charged to your card. The recipient always receives the full AFN amount you chose.

Can I send mobile data bundles to Afghanistan?

Yes. Switch the form to “Data plans” after entering the number and you will see the internet bundles available for that network, each with its data allowance, validity and price. Data bundles are paid by card the same way as airtime.
